Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a slow-growing, nutrient-dense adaptogenic mushroom that grows on birch trees across the northern boreal forest. We harvest ours by hand from wild Alaska birch, then dry and minimally process it so it keeps its full character. It brews into a dark, earthy tea you can drink on its own or with citrus and spices.

Wild Chaga Mushrooms
Chaga has been brewed into a dark, warming tea across the northern boreal forest for centuries, valued as a fortifying winter drink by the nomadic peoples and healers who lived among the birch trees where it grows.
We harvest ours by hand from wild Alaska birch in deep winter, when the tree is dormant and the conk holds its highest concentration of active compounds. Hammers Family Birch chaga comes straight from the tree. Most chaga sold today is myceliated grain, grown on substrate in a lab, and never forms the sclerotium, the hard black conk, or the compounds that come with it. Ours is the wild conk itself, carefully dried and minimally processed so it holds its full character, whether you steep it as tea, extract it, or slow-simmer it into a decoction.
